Origin of the Diesel Strain

The Cannabis Diesel strains are super popular and sought-after in the cannabis community. The Diesel strains exhibit an intense but special taste while providing a powerful effect due to its high THC content that can be over 20%. Often the exact origin of a strain cannot be traced with accurate results but we accept the theories that offer a good explanation.

What we know about the Diesel strains is that it is associated with the Chemdog and OG Kush strains.

Who is Chemdog?

Let’s understand more about the Chemdog, or rather let’s get to know the guy called Chem Dog.

This version of the Diesel strain origin starts in the early nineties in Indiana at a Grateful Dead concert. In the audience was a guy with the nickname of Chem Dog (we don’t know the origin of that nickname) and he was in search of some marijuana. So, he made his way to the parking lot – as you did in those days when you wanted to score – and he bought $500 worth of good weed.

He shared a few joints with the guys that sold him the stash and being super impressed with the quality, he got their number for future orders. Chem Dog returned to the East Coast and eventually got in touch with his parking lot dealers, who lived in Colorado. One of the bags he received from them contained seeds.

Guess what Chem Dog did?

He planted 4 of the seeds, one turned out to be a male but the remaining 3 were named Chemdog (aka Chemdog 91) Chemdog A (aka Chemdog’s sister), and Chemdog B.

Then a decade later, he planted 3 more seeds from that same batch he received from Colorado. Only one was worthwhile and he named it Chemdog D.

Chemdog Diesel

Sometime between this, Chem Dog the person shared some of the weed with a friend who called good cannabis, Diesel. And from there the story Chemdog became known as Chemdog Diesel and somehow other growers got hold of the Chem Dog 91 strain that accidentally got pollinated with Super Skunk. This became known as Sour Diesel.
